PERSONAL BESTS AT MATCH TACTICS ACADEMY !
ANGLER'S attending Will's first Match Tactics Academy went home buzzing after a full day of match talk, demos and advice all catching some nice carp and silver fish with a couple even netting personal bests in the process!
The eight anglers met with Will in the clubhouse before walking round the Syndicate Lake with Will as he imparted how to assess a venue with a view to tactical choices.
A demo from Will revealed how he would attack the venue in a match in the prevailing conditions focusing on feeding, rigs and tackle handling.
After a practice and with a draw made for pegs the anglers fished a friendly competition for 4-hours with the opportunity to try out the tactics Will had suggested with help on hand from Will.
There were prizes for the top three weights and a goodie bag for each of the attendees. Winning on the day was Mark Shubrook from Norwich who included a 17 lb 6 oz carp in his 61-4-0 bag.
The chunky common fell to long poled corn over pellet but a good percentage of Mark's net fell to the straight leger, a method he was unfamiliar with prior to the academy.
Also netting a personal best was Merseyside's Peter Shryan who tempted a 13 lb 4 oz carp also on the pole line.
Ian Winton from London had never fished a match before this event and used Will's advice to bag a succession of carp on straight legered pellet to finish second with 50 lb 10 oz.
